Map of parking lot:
Going to try to use the same spot as usual, but we've seemed to be creeping closer and closer to the doors the past few times. Just keep an eye out for a group of people standing along the back row of cars there.

PlantNewbster,

There usually is a shrimp vendor at the Swap who has a whole variety of shrimp. His RCS look very nice (very red) and only $1 each. Also, the cichlids you listed may also be available for purchase from some of the vendors at the Swap as well. When it gets closer to the date, GCCA usually posts all the vendors who will be there, what they are bringing, and how to get in contact with them to pre-order from them. I'll keep the main Swap Meet thread updated when I see it up on their site

Have a bunch of fish stuff laying around my storage room that I'm hoping someone else might be able to use. I'm not sure about pricing, so if it seems high, the price is negotiable on most items.

1) Polished aluminum reflector (~3ft worth - needs to be cleaned) - $10

2) Bottle of Greenlead liquid nitrogen (Little less than 500ml) - $10

3) Coralife 18 watt, 9 inch 50/50 Sunlight/Actinic CF bulb - $5

4) 5 Bioballs - Free if you purchase something and ask for the bioballs

5) Brand new, medium piece of mopani wood - $10

6) brand new Lifeguard 1/2" bulhead kit - $7.50

7) Amersham Pharmacia Scientific Peristaltic pump - $50 (I can show you how to use it)

8) Small Mag-clean glass cleaner and thermometers - $5

9) Topfin Powerhead 30 (95gallon/hour) - $10

10) JBJ Nano-Glo Refugium LED - $25 (These are BRIGHT. I retrofitted this over a small bowl and it was plenty of light for the tank)

11) Workhorse 5 Electronic Ballast w/CF endcap prewired - $10

PM me if you're interested. I can send pics of any of the stuff if you're interested.

Red or Pink Ramshorn Snails

I'd love a few red or pink ramshorns if you have any to spare.

WTT and/or RAOK
- Hornwort (ceratophyllum demersum), lots of it.
- Leopard Spotted Ramshorn snails.
- Mini Ramshorns.

I'm looking for Windelov Java Fern, or the above-listed red or pink Ramshorns, or Anchor or Christmas moss.

Thank you! And I'd love a few MTS, too. Although probably not too many MTS since I obviously overfeed and have made my tanks snail nirvana. :)

QUESTION!:

How does everyone want to handle the Meeting Spot for this Swap? Elli brought up a good point that it still probably will be cold out and it wouldn't be a good idea to be standing outside for 30-60 minutes chit chatting and swapping. Would it be better to for all of us to meet inside in the lobby of the hotel or should we just play it by ear for now until we see what the temperature is going to be? Opinions please!

It's ChicagoLand, it could also be 50 degrees that day. Let's wait until we see Tom Skilling's forecast on Wed before the Swap.

If we post up an alternate this early, guarantee someone is going to get confused.....like RazorWorm.

Frank,

You make a good point. I was thinking about playing it by ear and updating everyone on this post once we see what the weather actually is because this is Chicago, it could be 50º one day and then 10º the next... you never know.

I thought the whole reason for charging an entry fee was to rent facilities? Outside in Feb is RARELY 50 degrees in chicagoland. You are looking at anywhere between 0 and high 30s. Not ideal for fish.

Can I offer a suggestion to the organizers? Many Elmhurst schools rent their facilities for pretty reasonable prices by the hour. The entry fee for the meet should be able to cover a few hours rental i would think. Check it out:

http://www.elmhurst205.org/facilities

EDIT:

Sorry I didn't read through all the print about requirements for Elmhurst facilities. Might require insurance certificate. There are plenty of other places. Googling found the below:

George A. Leoni Complex
800 N. 17the Ave., Melrose Park
George A. Leoni Complex Rental Rates
Weekends (Friday After 3 p.m., Saturday, Sunday) CAPACITY

OUT OF DISTRICT
FULL HALL 100 $85 per hour $105 per hour
ACTIVITY ROOM 30 $30 per hour $40 per hour
