I guess I am wondering, with that big of an opening why bother with the top.

Due to the proximity of the water and the LED lamps, I'm concerned that they're too close to the water and with the entire lamp exposed to water, that I would not do, unless I were to raise the lamp, but I don't think (I don't have a PAR meter) that this LED solution would be bright enough for some of the plants that I am growing now and intend to plant this coming week? The service gap (that I dubbed it) allows me many advantages, as you know having to open and close, slide tops open is tiresome sometimes and is nice to just have that opening. I'm really just curious what other people think it's a very bad idea or really something that I shouldn't even second guess. I don't anticipate any fish jumping out. I don't keep those types of fish.I guess I am wondering, with that big of an opening why bother with the top.
