I rescued a common pleco from a terrible situation about a month ago, but I don't have the tank space (or living space for an appropriate tank) to keep it long-term.
It was in a 20 gal which was 2/3 full of dark brown water. It had no filter attached, and nothing else was alive (the previous owner had apparently turned the tank care over to someone else at the place of business, but that care was not very good). It's now in that same (clean!) 20 gallon tank, but it's not really a good long-term solution. It's about 8 inches long (which is much of how I guessed it was a common pleco! The water was sufficiently difficult to see into that the people who asked for my help weren't really sure how big it was), with some minimal (and healing) eye damage.
Does anyone need a common pleco or know where I might go to find it a good home? After saving the poor thing, I'd like it to have a good life. It sometimes comes out to look at me, but (not shockingly) spends most of the day hiding.
I'm in the greater boston area, FWIW.
