Malaysian Rainforest Jungle Trip

Found this shrimp (about 1 inch long) in a shallow stream at FIRIM in Malaysia. Any idea what this is? It has long arms and dusty brown colour.

Excuse my ignorance, do all Macrobranchium spp eggs go through larval stages? If so, do they need saltwater for morphogenesis into adults (like Amanos)?

I guess the one I saw in Malaysia does not require salt water as the habitat is purely freshwater. The sea is at least 50-100km away!

I'd say that it's a Macrobrachium species for sure, but can't really say which one. You might find some help from a book about Malaysian shrimp species.
I agree, It's been IDed at Shrimp Now though, can't remember what they IDed it as...

And no TheTeh there are plenty Macrobrachium species that can reproduce in FW!
