A small group of Endler's Livebearer's would work nicely. They don't get bigger than 1 inch. I'd only get males though, they reproduce quickly like guppies.

not much of the orange fan, want something eye catching. (I know orange is eye catching but I also don't like the black contrast on them... picky ik)
CPD's are shoaling fish. It's best to keep them in a group of six or more.

I imagine six wouldn't work in a five gallon long? or would they?
I know some people do that, but it might be too much since you already have shrimp and snails. I heard mystery snail has a big bioload. I have a Spec V and only have a betta in it. Also, if CPD's like your tank, they will breed crazy...

I found a lot of nano fish need to be in a group of six or more...

MS is in the other tank, current tank stocking for the V is 2 corys (moving to the 65G with other corys in 2 months coming soon!), CS, Amanos, that's it
Oh wait. It should work.

I have a 8.6 gallon and was told that I could have up to 12 CPD's and 12 Chili Rasbora's. I have 10 CPD's and two ramshorn snails for now. I do small water change with vacuum cleaning twice a week (to remove cyanobacteria and snail poops).

CPD's love to hang around and lay eggs in moss.

Then it would work perfectly. CPD's are great tiny fish. They are easy to take care of. They are pretty shy though... You're gonna love them :)

If I didn't fall for another betta I would have put 6 or so chili's and like 4 habrosus in my fluval.

Chili rasboras are great for this setup. Just make sure you put a grate or something on the intake or they will go into the filter area.
dang chilis must be that small!

I have 8 chilis and 5 hastatus cories, along with RCS in a Spec V. I put a sponge from the Aquaclear 50 filter on top of the block sponge to keep critters out of that chamber. RCS still manage to sometimes make in there - maybe through the bottom opening - but no fish.

Another option would be ruby tetras which I have in a standard 5.5g along with 4 hara jerdoni.
