No... the strainer is made to prevent exactly that. Small (baby) shrimp will get sucked in, but in a large tank that shouldn't be an issue. You can "rescue" most of them when cleaning the filter. Healthy fish won't have problems with the strainer.
ive had some neons an other small fish get sucked on to the intake but it is very rare! i have seen sleeping fish get near it and sucked into it but it still was able to swim away but this is a very rare thing only seen it a couple of times over years an years of doing this. nothing i would be worried about at all.
The reason the strainer is so large is so that it won't get clogged, and there isn't that strong of a "suck" to it. Should have no issues at all. GREAT filter, I've got 2, and my buddy got 2 for his 150g and his dad has 2 on his now as well.
