Fluval 305 Canister Filter

The lfs has a deal right now on the Fluval 305, buy the filter ($179), and get a free 55 gallon tank. I am currently looking to start a larger planted tank and was considering a 55 gallon. Is this a good deal and is the Fluval 305 a good filter for a 55g planted tank?

I'd say its a pretty swEEt deal. Big Al's has 305 for 179 bucks right now...but no free tank with it.
I use a 304, like it just as much as my Eheim 2075. Easy to prime, will work for years, and nearly as quiet as any other IMO
i have a 305 filtering my aquarium right now it seems plenty powerful enough, i just wish it had a spray bar.

You can order a spray bar for it. Or you can DIY one. : )

I have a 305 on my tank and love it. I have it sitting on a mouse pad so the motor vibrations does not transfer to the wood in my stand. I have it on a 46 Gallon Bowfront.
