can't u just google something simple like this? not trying to be rude, but i notice alot of "can i this ...75g", "will this work...75g", "lighting... 75g", and many of the recent ones are all written by you. Granted i am in a terrible mood and in a fight with my girlfriend at the moment, but I just don't believe in filling the recent topics list with one persons thread spam that often contains "one-liner" questions whose answers are available all over the internet. Try to consolidate your questions and research the easy ones on your own time. Hit us up with the difficult ones. This is just general forum etiquette.

/end rant

On to your question. You will learn that "turn over" is only part of the equation when trying to figure out flow. A lot of people say at least 3-6 times turn over per hour. 225-550gph. Again, you need to consider the fish you are planning on keeping since not all fish tolerate flow as well as others. Discus for instance despise it, as well as bettas. Just search profiles and other forums and your answer will be there, often in plain sight, with exactly the same fish "stocking" that you plan on having.

It seems it would have been less stressful for you and wasted less of your time just to have ignored the OP's question since it seemed to cause you such consternation. It's possible a lot of forum members had rather help someone with what seems too simple of a question for you to bother with than waste their time reading a rant about what you feel is too simple of a question. But that's just my 2 cents.

You'll get a lot of opinions but 5-10 times turnover is usually a good rule of thumb. So we're talking 375-750 gph for your size tank. A good and relatively inexpensive way to boost flow is with something like a Koralia powerhead as long as you don't mind having another piece of equipment in the tank. You can also add another canister if you'd prefer to do that.
Well, when you are stressed to begin with, usually posts don't come easy to write in a calm and mature voice. I didn't directly attack him, but i do believe people would agree that making several simple one liner question threads that are simple to research is not GOOD forum etiquette. I only know this because i have been the noob on at least 15-20 forums, and have since graduated "forum pre-school" and know not to post things that i should research first. I somewhat regretted my actions immediately after i posted, but either way... i still answered his question... and am further willing to answer them, i just had a little mental breakdown that's all. OP... I am sorry.

alright so... i ask these questions because obviously alot of people on here have pretty big knowledge of planted aquaria. as for googling information or however you want to research.. its it so broad its retarded one can say 100gph on one site and the next 1000gph here its all on one site if 2 people think what i just stated they can explain it out and not leave me so retardedly dissatified with the information i read to give up and fail.. where as asking it here you can actually be involved with the discussion and actually talk it out reading things you get one view... the person that wrote it... get where im comming from... and i greatly appreciate the answers
i am here for the same reasons as all of you. here to spread the knowledge i have to others and gain more knoledge from the people that have tried other things and know more and have been doing it longer
i just read somewhere that i am at around 129 gph with what i have... and i just read that the ehiem 2215 can be used with the 2217 impeller for more flow anyone know off hand if its cheaper to go with the 2215 and the 2217 impeller or just buy another 2217? and how much gph can i powerhead stir up... where would i likely want to face the powerhead? i have my suction arounf the middle back of my tank and my return at the same spot forcing the water to the left? is the a certain patturn that is best? like pushing the water to one end and suction from the end its being pushed to?
i also just read that the ehiem 2217 is great for chemical filtration because it is a pressurised canister... and not so great for mechanical... i went down and watched the suction and some of my firmouth fry were actuall swimming in and around the end piece... Whats with that? how are you even supposed to suck up and debris thats floating around?
