I am planning a medium light 20g tank and am wondering if buying Seachem Flourish Trace is a waste of money if I use their root tabs or rootmedic's tabs in the substrate (Flourite Black gravel) ????

might save me $8 if I don't need the liquid Flourish Trace.

I don't have experience with the Root Medic, but I wouldn't get Flourish Trace or the Flourish root tabs. Get just regular Flourish.
