Floating things in AS

After putting in AS and filling up my 50g with water, I ended up with these floating pieces of what look like pieces of wood chips and some floating substrate. Should I just net these out? Has this happened to anyone before?

Probably bits of peat and/or something else in the production method. I'd just scoop them out.

i too had something like this floating in the water on my 10g i recently setup. i just chalked up the detritus to unrefined bits of AS and netted them out.

I got those too, looks like wood bits to me but now they are in the trash.
