Does anyone have photos of floating Riccia fluitans in their tanks? I've seen some beautiful carpets of it, but in photos I've been able to find of it floating, it looks like a yellow-green tangled mess -- not aesthetically pleasing. I was thinking of replacing my Salvinia minima floaters with it, but not if it's ugly...

I don't have pictures, but it was never unhealthy in my tank. The problem was, as you noticed, how messy it would get around the edges of the clump. But in the main clumps it looks as good as any carpet.

Were the pictures you looked at of open top tanks? Mine had a glass top. It could be that lower humidity was causing the yellowing you saw.

Thanks! That photo was what got me thinking about it... wasn't sure whether the photo was of riccia that was grown floating, or grown tied down and just floating for the photo (if that makes sense).

I have all mine floating. I tried some tied down but since removed it. It grows the same under water or floating.

I usually give a lot away but i moved and running into spiro algae so i tossed my extra.
