Does anyone know what this plant is? I bought some on accident in a scoop of floaters, any ideas what to do with it? Can I carpet with it?

I think they allowed it to do this in the stores shrimp tank on purpose, looks like it to me

There is a type of refugium algae that grows in freshwater. I ordered some from an online store and it is still growing well. Botanical name is Chaetomorpha. Slow growing, coarse and springy like a plastic loofah sponge.

I used to use"chaeto" in my salt water refugium. It was very fast growing in there.

What is the point of a refugium on a FW setup? Nitrates reduction?

I don't know if there is a point of a refugium in FW. I'm wondering what I have, because it hasn't melted, and it looks like chaeto. How long does it take to melt? I've had it in there for over a week now. (Darker spaghetti like plant behind the peacock java).

Your Java moss looks different than mine, Peacock you say? I notice some is darker and some are more fluffy, I may have gotten a grab-bag of Java moss.

Will the Ricca "stick" to things the way Java moss does??

It was sold to me as java moss. It looks more like the peacock moss here: Aquatic Moss. How to grow Aquatic Moss. Info on Java Moss, Christmas Moss, Taiwan Moss, Peacock Moss, Stringy Moss It looks more fern like than the sloppy look of java moss I received from a LFS. I'm no expert.

Riccia won't anchor/attach itself to anything, but can get caught on things. (like Subwassertang/Round "Pellia" won't anchor, though Pellia can).
Some consider Riccia as a pest. It can break into little strands and get dispersed around the tank, making it hard to really get rid of all of it (same as subwassertang).
Bit tricky to attach/tie riccia down to anything (it likes to float). Using netting works though.
