I just received some blyxa japonica and I was wondering if you guys and gals thought it would be ok to float it for about 5 days, until my new tank is setup, or should I plant it in my 10 gallon that is already setup until i can transfer it to the new tank? I really don't have much room in my 10, but I guess I could move some stuff around if I have to. But if it should be ok floating, then I'd rather just do that.

Any opinions?

5 days should be ok I think. What I would do though if it was me is bunch it by the roots and weigh it down and let it sink instead of planting it and then pulling it out again.

the only negative that i've found from floating blyxa (not by choice, it came up of its own accord) is that roots grow asymmetrically from the stem, so when you plant it, you would need to trim some of the roots.


EDIT: FYI, i've had blyxa float for a couple weeks before replanting it without any visible adverse effects
