What would you stock a 35-40 gallon tank with . I was starting to setup a 20 gallon tank and I started to think that by the time I got it planted I wouldnt have much room for fish. so I have decided to build my own tank that will be between 35-40 gallons . It will be a low tech low light tank and Im open to any suggestions.

well, what do you like? find a major "centerpiece" fish for your tank that you like something large and prominent and start from there. Then get species that compliment this centerpiece and look good with it. For a 35 - 40 gallon you could get some species of dwarf cichlids as a centerpiece or some rainbowfish or some chocolate gourami's. Then you would need to get some bottom dwelling fish or some small schoolers or something that have similar water requirements as your centerpiece.
