I'm sure it happens quite frequently, but with smaller fish and just doesn't get photographed.
A right time, right place sort of deal. Or wrong time wrong place deal if you're the fish.
I read that he didn't intercede on the fish's behalf. Being in a sanctuary I think he would've gotten in trouble. Hard to tell what type of fish since most SW species look night and day different from juvenile to adult.
I know I would've been torn about letting it play out.
I have seen stuff like that. Only, like bushkill said, with much smaller fish.
When I was a kid, I used to play on a long fishing pier that went about a quarter mile out over the ocean. I would catch jellyfish with a net, and some of them would have fish in them.
