Fish genetics

There was another post somewhere that mentioned that the female doesnt carry "color" genes ( I think, it may have been another type of gene, lol)

I have 9 endler survivors from a columnaris outbreak in the summer, that are from the same drop, and come from a long line of inbreeding in a pre-k school tank. I've separated the males and females to stop the inbreeding.

I also have a tank with tiger endlers I won on aquabid a couple months ago. Most were sent to me as fry, and now I can tell most of them are males. There might be 5-6 females out of 18 fish. I also haven't seen any fry in this tank, but thats another issue.

I'm thinking about putting the surviving females from my old endlers into this tank. If I do and if they breed will they throw tigers or will they throw normal endlers?

I have a similar question. Several months ago, I was given a mixed group of Endler's fry: tigers and wild-type. As they mature I can easily tell male tigers from male wild-type, and can separate them. But the females all look the same, at least to me. I am mainly interested in breeding the tigers. If I fail to separate the wild-type females from the tiger males, will I get tigers, or wild-type, or some intermediate color variety?
I think it has to do with Dominant and Recessive traits. I'm assuming the tiger stripes are recessive.

So if a recessive mates with a recessive (Rr x Rr), you'll get tiger stripes... If a dominant mates with a recessive (Dd x Rr) you'll get normal normal endlers but the babies will carry the recessive genes (Dr). But the stripes won't be expressed.. I think that's how it goes from biology class.
If you guys want to really get some great info on Endlers, genetics and even guppy hybrids, go to this forum has it all: endlersusa.com

Its the best Endler Forum out there, plus tons of info on selective breeding and hybridizing.

Oh, and to answer your original post. I have been mixing endlers for a few years now. If you put Tigers with the Black bar females it will throw both paterns(with slight variations) + many will have wild guppy type patters with minimal color.
