My celestial pearl danios keep putting the CO2 bubbles in their mouths... is this really bad for them? They do spit them out

My fish will try to eat ANYTHING. They hover above my plants when the plants are pearling and eat the oxygen bubbles then spit them out. You would think that after several weeks they would figure out that it isn't food.
