First thread and ?

Hello all this is my first thread. im plannin my first planted tank and i dont have the best lighting so i figure i could do what i can until i can afford a better light. im doing this in a 55g and im planning on doing a southeast asian biotope.... anyways on to the ?>>> how do i clean peat moss... im going to put a layer undernieth the pfs but i figured i need to clean it jus like i do with the sand but idk if it floats cause if it does then it will just flow right out of the bucket... do i even need to rinse it out? the reason im doing peat is because i like that blackwatter look and iv heard it has a lot of good minerals and such... thanks
