i decided to overhaul my 60g (whew)i am redoing the substrate with seachem flourite(yikes!)my question at hand is do you guys put water in before you replant?full?half?need advice to do this as efficieny as possible also how deep should the sub be?i do have alot of crypts and echinos.thanks.

Rinse the flourite really good, then fill up the tank about 1/3 of the way, plant, and then fill the tank the rest of the way up slowly - maybe letting the stream of water hit a plate to keep from knocking around the substrate.

The flourite definitely needs to be rinsed real well before putting it in your tank. I rinsed mine in big strainers. You will have a very muddy tank if you dont rinse well.

Yes, you will I neglected to rinse mine (I knew I had to rinse) what a mess.

Substrate depth: 2" in front and 3 1/2 to 4 in back.

I plant with just enough water to cover the substrate and move up from there.
