Some background on the tank. It's been up since July. It was a gift to my son. It had mostly artificial plants until he got the new LED light for Christmas. Since then I have went to Petco/PetSmart and bought most of the plants they carry. Also just added some telanthera cardinalis. All of the plants, except an Amazon sword and a lace Java fern, have been added in the last 10-15 days. They are all growing and have been adding leaves in the last week. Added the spider wood today after glueing the Java fern to it and rearranged.
I have been totally hooked on the planted side of things and went and got a 40b for myself and about 30 lbs of dragon stone for a future project.
Looks good so far, will really look great when the back fills in.
Good luck!
Hey thanks! I wanted some jungle vals but couldn't find any. Also, I heard they don't do well with excel. And do you think the bristlenose pleco will kill the swords?
Tank looks good but I did a double take on your dosing. I have a low tech tank and no way I could add 3 caps of Excel at any point or my fish would stop swimming and be struggling for oxygen. I don't know what percent water change you're doing so hard to say about the nutrients. It's a learning process, 2 years after my first planted tank I am still learning.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I thought it says I ml per 10 gallons daily.... And 5ml per 10 gallons after a 40% or more water change....

Yes, but each capful is 5ml! So 3 capfuls is 15ml. You can get a small syringe free at any pharmacy, that will help with smaller doses.

Dropper or syringe. Each cap thread is suppose to represent 1ml

I like that you have basically an angel fish to itself. Should be quite the pretty fish!
Only because it's a murderer. It has taken out the all of the other angels I've tried to put with it. Maybe they have all been males idk. I'm still not sure what sex it is.
I have now since switched to a syringe (oral medicine type) and I am thinking maybe I should back down to 2 caps or 10ml after water change...(10 gallons of a 29er) and I am really wanting to get rid of the angelfish. It is aggressive and I can't get any shrimp, snails or new fish.

was gonna be 'that guy' and suggest you re-home the angel anyways. you can probably just return it to the LFS. it will out-grow the tank - 29g is a bit small for adult angels

also they can be pretty aggressive as you have seen... shrimp and most smaller fish will become food. they are cichlids after all!

otherwise your tank will look very nice once it fills in! i like the layout and diversity of plants
