Hello TPT I joined here in September and from September thru December i spent many many hours browsing through old post and reading and reading and more reading I finally felt confident enough to start a tank up this is my first but i am totally hooked and i absolutely love this hobby. Thank you to all of you who have answered some of my dumb questions and of course for all the great info here on this site. I apologize for the pics i am not a photographer and some were taken on my ipad which takes horrible pics. So far i am pleased with the progress of the tank i had a few bouts of what i think was hair algae more then likely due to long of a photo period other then that its been pretty low maintenance. The tank was planted mid January sorry not many start up pics. Well anyhow without further adieu heres my specs and tank.

Tank: standard 45 long
Filter: Eheim 2215 (Toms surface skimmer attached)
Lighting: Finnex 48" planted+
Dosing: dry ferts per Tom Barr's non co2 method except I use Flourish for micros and a cap of excel a day and root tabs
Plants: Hygro giant temple, crypt spiralis, crypt undulata, crypt nurri, ludwigia repens, L. Repens sp. red, mini christmas moss,A. Reineckii, star grass, Brazilian pennywort, red tiger lotus, java fern and i am trying to use H. Japan for a carpet without the manicured look its growing like mad.

I wish my first setup looked that nice! Lookin good to start, everything looks very healthy and it will only look better as they continue to grow and fill in. Are you thinking of doing the H. Japan across the whole front or adding some other plants in the foreground?

Thanks i really appreciate it. As far as the H. Japan goes I'm just going to let it fill in. In the right corner there is a baby tiger lotus growing and other corner is the undulata. Do you think it would look better with just H Japan?
I have a lot more pics to post but i guess im a moron because i cant figure out how to post more then one pic at a time...if anyone reading this couldhelpme out i could finish posting my pics lol
