Okay, before I completely lose my mind...

Last August I got bitten by the planted tank bug and have spent all of these many months putting together all of the parts. All I need now are the plants and I should have those within a week or 2.

I bought a 36 inch Finnex Planted + light to go on my 40 gallon breeder tank. I am doing a dirted, very low tech, Walsted type tank. I was under the assumption that this light would provide low lighting, but now I'm not so sure. I certainly don't want to have to deal with adding CO2, and now I don't know if I should buy plants just for low lighting or what. Please help!

One should be ok. I have one planted plus on a 20 gallon long, no CO2, no ferts, in dirt and it grows dwarf sag, anubias, ludwigia repens, Java fern and moss just fine, hardly no algae, and the growth is slow.

Great, that is just what I needed to know. I think my tank is 18 inches tall; I was not sure about anubias or ludwigias. Great news!
