Im thinking of upgrading from my current t5ho to an LED setup, my tank is a standard 72x24x30 and it is planted with low light plants (swords and anubias and whatnot) would it be better to go with the Fugeray planted+ or the ray 2 dual 7000k?
I dont need crazy amounts of light as it is a central/south american cichlid tank and the light is naturally supposed to be a bit more muted but I still want to be able to grow low to moderate light plants if I feel like it.
the main problem I foresee is height of the tank(30 inches).

Ive got the same setup. The problem with leds is thay relly don't make a good setup for deep tanks. the ones they do make for the most part are fore the salt water side of the hobby.

to your question on the ray2 probably not. if you you get 2 of those lights you might get enough light to grow low light plants.

I would probably get two anyway, one right away and then another when I can afford it. So I guess the question is which one? Fugeray planted or ray2?
what about current usa satellite+? The features are neat but it does not seem very bright.

If you were open to hanging and dyi modification, i would recommend (2) Fugeray Planted+ and (1) Monster Ray in a staggered formation like this:

Finnex does not make a 6' lamp but the 3 lamps in tandem should offer enough intensity to reach down the 30"+ height while adding a bit more color through the Monster Ray RGB in mid position.

There are the quad 3W leds fixtures on Aquatraders, like this one :

Maybe the penetration would be better because of 3W leds? I don't know, never tried.

At 30"s I would recommend the ray2 personally. So some sort of configuration that acidcitydweller is recommending, but with 2 ray2s. planted+ aren't getting any real PAR at 30's, sorry.

(I'm running 3 of them on a 135 36" deep tank along with 2 BMLs XB series.

Are there any real differences between the fugeray and ray2 when it comes to color? I know the fugeray has less light output but from a visual perspective are they any different?

You would be better off going with at least one 72" BML. Would be less cost than all of the Finnex fixtures you would need.

Not totally true. Most of the ones made for SW can be bought in at least a 10000k setup which is perfect for a planted tank. In addition to that the BML XB series for deeper tanks, and regular for standard deep tanks is more than enough for a high light setup in most setups.
