Looks like green spot to my uneducated eye, and there isn't much of anything out there that can eat that stuff.

That's the stuff. The shrimp actually eat the food the algae produces. You are off to a good start.

I hope it is edible and not something shrimp won't eat...

If you are counting on the shrimp to eat the algae, you are out of luck. heh Only the food it produces will be eaten by the shrimp.

+1. the shrimp will not eliminate the algae they just graze off of it.

Yea i know I was just wanting to get my lil tank to growing algae so I can add a flat rock of pretty good size and then after it gets on there and pretty much covers the rock I'll have a snacking rock for the shrimp to graze off of. :bounce: I don't really want them to eat it all... then I would hafta start over again
