Well I got some low grade CRS from Brian's Tropicals a while back now, Dec. I think... And they're doing great but I started to think I had only one sex. But now some have saddles, spotted at least two of the 11 in the 55g with what looks to be a CRS saddle but they're really hard to spot since they're so red! So hopefully sooner or later I'll have some more CRS!

10g will also be turned into a CRS tank soon so they should have a new home soon!

So I'm a bit relieved and happy!

Congrats!! Hopefully soon you'll be seeing little candy canes walking amongst your tank. ;)
Yeah, for a while I figured my PH must be higher than I thought in the 55g, but hopefully it isn't.... But 10g with a bag of Florabase going to be set up probably this week, so We'll see how they like the new tank. Probably let it go shrimpless for a month or even two months if I can wait that long... So I can try some scaping!

Happy to hear the CRS are doing well:) Get that 10gal ready so you can get them safely in their own home.
Yeah, First I need to evict Two Male GBR and then I'll need to finalize on the scape since I want it to look at least decent since before it was just a tank full of moss... After that I will play around with the tank for a month or two and Finally transfer them into it. After that I'll see how they do. As long as everything goes well I'll probably buy some high grade Bee Shrimp maybe a few CRS as well and see what I can do with breeding them.

My goal will be a full black bee, and to get it stable. I've seen pictures of them and they look great!

So Slowly but surely it should come along.

Like I said in another thread don't count your eggs before they hatch. Good luck.
Yeah I know:proud: but I have a feeling they will be fine... 55g lots of moss and other crap for them to eat... Pretty stable water conditions (Don't ask what the parameters are haven't checked all year:icon_lol: ) I feed lots of good food regularly and the have some relatives to keep watch!

So we'll see!

Wow are you serious? I was actually thinking of getting a TDS meter so I can get a baseline on the effect of adding ferts after my tank specifics have been established.
Yeah I'm serious... I'm a bit lazy;) I have the Tetra master test kit right under the tank, haven't used it at all this year, or since like last Sept. probably. I don't dose ferts though (another OMG) so that is another reason... if there is something really wrong in my tank I'll know if from the plants and inverts, so I'm not too worried. Now on the other hand, I have some algea around but I'm not very worried, going to redo the 55g after I redo my 10g.

Yay good for you Andrew! You beat me on setting up a shrimp 10 gallon lol. If I ever get into doing it. Maybe this finals week. :-D.

I wish you great luck. I didn't know CRS could have saddles!
Well I haven't switched the substates or made the scape or anything for the 10g. HOPEFULLY I'll of started by the end of the month.. not too much of a hurry though.

Oh, and ALL shrimp will have saddles (Females:icon_wink ) when there are eggs in the ovaries, they don't just poof in the tail. And there isn't a stork for the shrimp:icon_cry:

That is good news in the right direction. Please make sure the water is crystal clean for the babies to survive and prosper:)
Water is pretty crystal clean... Sometimes I'm tempted to drink it... (Well not really since it's hot... Hot cocoa anyone?)

Yeah and take some pics! hehehe :)
Yes please get some pics on here soon! :D
Heh, Me post pictures? I'm like a super slow person in that area.... I still haven't finished posting pictures in the thread about me getting the CRS! They're all sitting on my comp....

So I don't think I'll be able to get a good picture since its a 55g tank and one berried CRS...

Thanks and I will updated you guys!

I'm rethinking what you said;) ...

A small disaster in my book happened today! Got home from school and went upstairs to get some clothes before I went to the gym...

Looked in the tank to see one dead CRS, so I figured must of been old age (Got them as mature adults) Then found another one dead:icon_mad: . Then There is one on the verge of death... hasn't died yet so I'll let it go in peace but maybe it will survive...

Well for the first time ever I'm testing everything I can test, only have 3 of the vials so I'm not testing GH and KH now but that doesn't really matter. So far everything looks good though, no NO2- Nitrite, 5.0 PH, And no amonia what so ever... I'll give them some time and let everyone know what happens.

My theroy is that either somwhere in the tank there was a pocket of amonia and the shrimp killed themselves by mistake since the tank at moment is pretty calm. OR that it was old age... But 2 dead and one dieing at the same time seems wierd. All other 8 are fine though:icon_bigg . Cherries are happy as can be as well...

So Maybe it's just a freak thing since I haven't changed ANYTHING to the tank...

-Andrew

PS, the berried CRS is fine:icon_bigg it appears that I didn't loose any of the Females with saddles either!

20 mins later...

All tests are showing nothing unusual...

Nitrite- 0mg/l
pH- about 5.0 maybe a bit higher... but not over 6
Ammonia- 0mg/l maybe a little over but not by much...

So Should I test KH and GH?

Maybe they didn't get enough food? But then again some of them had food in their digestive track...
