I'm all packed and heading out to a location in the Sierras for a 4 day camping trip. My plan is to take lots of pictures, have a ton of fun, and forget about work/shrimpin for the next few days.

I'll be back with lots'o pictures and hopefully collect some native plant species to possibly grow and share.

See ya later TPT!! I'll update this thread once I get back to reality. Stay tuned! ;)

Have Fun, Nick! Shut everything off and check out!

After the year my wife and I have had, we're planning a get away in October. Every year on our anniversary we do a small road trip but I intend to surprise her this year with a trip in the northern rockies.

Do you just camp or are you into the works, backpacking, climbing, etc?

Every year we do off season craziness in Glacier. This year was cut short after my buddy fell on a crossing and dislocated his shoulder..... could have been worse since we were 40 miles from the road, 70 from cell service, and over a 80-150 foot deep crevasse.
Have a great time and post pics as soon as possible :proud:
Have fun nick! You will love it up there, and want to move up to the sticks were the weather stays cool. I grew up there and loved it
If you go through Oakhurst lemme know and I can show you my stuff. I live in Yosemite.

I love it here. Be sure to grab some Manzanita ;)
Have fun! :D The Sierras are great. I got to spend a spring break when I was wee there.
I'm back!! Had a TON of fun! We had a 10 car caravan so I'll let you guys guess how fun it was. :hihi:

Thanks guys! I'm beat so I'll post up some pics tomorrow hopefully. Had so much fun I wasn't able to bring out the camera as much as I hoped.

We did a bit of hiking but there were too many young kids (family) this year so we only did 'easy' hikes lol.

Trust me bro, I've been up there every year since I was a kid. I love it up there and wish I could just live up there for the rest of my adult life. I LOVE the wilderness. Oh yeah, the best part was that there was absolutely no cell service.

I camp right past Oakhurst ;). Take Sky Ranch Rd up all the way to a spot near Camp Soquel. Have you heard of that camp?

Didn't know you lived up there :). Maybe nextime ;).

Awesome trip, I can't wait til next month when I go out for opening of deer season. Not as long as I want but 3 days and 2 nights is better than nothing.
Nice Brown, Where'd you catch that?
I guess I just saw this post today. LOL
Sky ranch definitely sounds familiar. I live about 15 miles before oakhurst, right near Chuckchansi Casino ;)

I don't have any of my aquariums where I currently am living, everything is at a friends house until I find a spot for it. I do have my new 210g empty there though...

Next time, be sure to hit me up, I would love to meet another TPT'r.

That trout is huge! I wanna do some fishing soon, I live in the perfect area to do it, lol.

In a small stream next to our campsite. The water was alot lower this year since we didn't have much snow :thumbsdow up there during the winter.

Where have you been buddy? :D

Oh yeah, I know exactly where that is bro... that's not that high up yet haha. It's very close to you though, where I go. Shoot me a PM if you ever want to learn the exact spot. it's super easy to get to and great fishing, but you've gotta know how to sneak up on them otherwise, these guys will not take the hook if they're spooked.
LOLOLOLOL I know right. Should of be here 24 hours a day~ BTW did you found out my request? LOL
Here's a teaser: biggest Brown I've ever caught!
That's a nice looking fish, the water is pristine.

Nick's secret: All bait and lures were marinaded in fish sauce.

Thanks Jimmy. The water was clean enough to drink. Bathing in it for 4 days felt so much better than my shower back here at home. Love that soft mountain runoff water.

Fish sauce? haha we actually used grasshoppers that were all over the river beds. Just had to catch em. Best bait!

Alright, I finally got down to uploading some pics. Hope you guys enjoy them.

This is a nice tucked away hidden lake that had no access road to it. My bro and I saw it on google earth and figured it was close enough to camp to hike to, so we did. Damn it was beautiful. :D The only drawback was, it's pretty much dried up due to the bad season of snow we had last year.

My cousin and his family with the the most beautiful backdrop.

Dragonfly larva shell

There were no fish in the pools of water seen in the pics above. However, there were a bunch of these weird looking creatures... I think they're some sort of larva but I can't figure em out. They swim similar to fish. I didn't think about shooting a video.

Meanwhile back at camp... :proud:

My boy

I wanted to collect some of this moss before I came home but totally forgot about it. Was having too much fun with the fam haha.

That's it! Till next year...

Vernal fairy shrimp. Looks like maybe beaver-tail or red-tail fairy shrimp.
^^ Looks like you hit the nail on the head Liam. Thanks for the info. I would have never thought it was a shrimp lol. At least it didn't look like any of the shrimp we're keeping, that's for damn sure haha.
