I'm a newb to aquariums. We inherited a 55g freshwater tank when we moved into a new house. It contained 6 gold danios, a marble loach and some half dead plants. I struggled for 3-4 months while I learned, made mistakes, killed plants, killed a few fish, etc. Finally, I think I understand the ecosphere and have everyone living peacefully. We have about 50 fish now and 3 different plants.

Here, after a water change we got our first pearling! Yippee!

Hate to burst your bubble; but the "pearling" often seen after a water change is not really pearling. Its referred to as false pearling. Pearling is one of those things that many strive for but really doesn't mean much nor prove anything (other than prove your oxygen saturation is to a point where the water literally cant take in the oxygen being produced by the plants.). Take pride in the fact that your tank looks good and your plants are growing and looking healthy and that you're learning something along the way!

I'm more impressed with how you got that animated gif in the post! How'd you do that?!

Hmm... If you see the horizontal leaf in the base of the picture, that line of bubbles is coming from one spot on that leaf. That's that make a difference?

As for the GIF, I used ezgif.com and just uploaded a pic from my phone.

The only difference it might make furthers the idea that its not truly pearling. Damaged portions of a leaf/plant will sort of "ooze" bubbles out of one specific spot. Thats still not really pearling. Dont sweat it though. You've got a good looking tank and should be proud!

That looks like pearling from a cut leaf. What kind of plant is it coming from?
Here's the thing about that. I don't know. We we started out with the tank we didn't pay much attention to the plants. We recorded every fish we bought, but no so much with the plants. Here's a pic of the plant.
