filters for a 125 gal

would 2 fx5's be over kill for a 125 gal

Considering they are rated up to 400gal yes i would say it is even though i am going to run two on a 180gallon

All come's down to your needs to handle a bio-load. Water testing will help you determine that.

Nope that's just about perfect IMO

Two filters are better than one. The extra flow is always desireable in a planted tank to distribute co2 and other nutrients.
