Whenever I change an Eheim white fine pad, I have a moderate level of a bacterial bloom as evidenced by slightly milky water.
I use dechlorinated tab water to clean Substrate Pro, so I hope I don't kill beneficial bacteria.
This time I didn't even touch Substrate Pro. I only replaced two fine pads in my two 2236's that I'm running on a 40 g tank. I also cleaned the blue coarse pre-filters with dechlorinated tab water. But I got a bacterial bloom 2 days later.
Am I doing something wrong?
