Filter For a Fluval Chi

I like most people ditched the included filter and light from a Fluval Chi. I've tried a few different filters and I've yet to come up with something that works for me.

First I tried a Fluval C2 and it was way to noisy (rattled). I tried all the tricks from petroleum jelly to teflon tape and it wasn't quiet enough.

Next I tried a Fluval U1 but it took up too much space. The flow was a little much for my guppies.

Now I'm on a Azoo Mignon 60 and it doesn't seem to have enough surface area for 5 guppies. I find the filter a little noisy when close but not too terrible when 3+ feet away. The flow seems ok when I have it running wide open.

Now I am looking at the Zoomed 501. I'm not sure if it would have too much flow for 5 gallons. If it did I guess I could put a ball valve in the output line.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had experience with small canister filters and small tanks. 5 gallons is a tough size to find a filter for.

Thanks,
