I need a baffel for my filter right now I have a piece of filter sponge wedged in the spout where the water comes out. the sponge just touches the top of the water so there is less current. My question is can I tye some taiwian moss to that sponge to hide it or would that be a bad idea.

I am not sure if tying moss to it will work or not since I don't know how well it would react to the current. I don't know if this happens to more than just me, but the filter outlet tends to grow algae on it which could spread to the moss if it happens to you.

As a simple alternative you could cut out the center part of a water bottle and use it as a diffuser. I have did that on my HOB filter on my 10 gallon betta tank, and now the betta doesn't get blown around.

Look at the thread on planted HOB filters here, there are a ton of people who have used different mosses on the filter outflow :)
