The substrate is called bacto light. Its peat with .85-.3-.5 slow release fertilizer and the heater is set at 80 degrees F. It keeps the tank at about 82F with the lights on and 80-90% humidity, 78F with the lights out.

What does .85-.3-.5 mean?

That's looks good so far. You will have a wild jungle in there pretty soon.

I think that you mean "emersed", not "immersed".

You might get better colors from your plants with somewhat cooler temps.

Yeah that's a grammar fail on my part. I am quite immersed in emersed setups tho. :hihi:

Ill try turning the temp down to about 74-76 degrees. Does that sound about right?

Your plants have beautiful colors--nice work!

I don't know what that stuff on the hygro leaves might be. I have seen something similar before that I imagined to be salts that the plant was purging through the leaves, but those little granules just rubbed right off.

Thanks hydrophyte! Have you ever used any of the Monty's Joy Juice brand stuff? I recently got some of the organic carbon that ive been using and its working wonderfully. When used in combo with the fert it helps the plants to absorb it more quickly through the leaves plus it helps to stabilize the soil. Would recommend!
