I have heard some people using fertilizer in their aquariums, but my impression was that fertilizer is harmful to amphibians due to their porous skin.

How many folks out there have dwarf frogs/clawed frogs and use fertilizer? What type do you use, and how long have you had your frogs?

I think root tabs would be safer for frogs than liquid ferts (which can be dangerous to fish too if not careful).

I had set up a 2.5 gallon nano with one dwarf aquatic frog and cherry shrimp. I was using Seachem Fluorish Comprehensive in addition to Fluorish Excel.
Fluorish Excel: .25 ml daily
Fluorish Comprehensive: .25ml once a week

I did not notice the shrimp or dwarf frog exhibit any ill effects from this treatment after one month's use.

I stopped dosing with the Fluorish Comprehensive fertilizer only in an attempt to slow and reverse the tide of thread algae which overtook my tank by storm; not because I feared for the frog. He behaves no differently than he did when I was dosing with the Flourish Comprehensive

I use multiple powder fertilizers, salt, Excel, even algae killing chemicals and my Dwarf African Frogs have been fine for over a year now. I do 50% water changes and canister filter rinses every 2 weeks at the most.
