Have a 30g x high planted tank w fish. I was feeding 3 small pinches of food a day. been having a hair algae issue. my lfs told me that im feeding way too much. popping some phosphate pouches in the canister and he said to feed the fish once every 3 days. that sounds insane to me but he swears by it. is this good advice???

What kind of fish?

I've never heard an actual recommendation to feed every 3 days.

Water changes, and adequate filtration would seem the better way to go. But that's just me.

A 3-day or even a week-long fast won't do most fish harm, but I wouldn't make it the norm.
