Looking for a "fast" growing low lying plant or moss to use as a carpet for a shrimp tank.

I guess something carpeting about 1 1/2" tall like glosso is still ok.

Still undecided on low tech or high tech. Sort of want to do low tech just so I don't need to inject co2 that may impact shrimp breeding rates.

marsilea species, hair grasses might be too tall, HC, all you could do without co2 for your shrimps

mosses-fast growing-mini
um...
fast growing anything really depending on your conditions will take off
mini
java spring, millimeter,
but your better off with a larger moss for a carpet

Just as an idea this is HM growing in a lowtech tank. There is really nothing that grows faster in lowtech. To keep the carpet look you need to trim it once every two weeks.

Solenostoma tetragonum grows relatively fast, and shrimp love it.
Thanks! I've never seen that before? Any sources to get it from in the US? Looks like the common name is "Crown Moss" (actually a liverwort from what I've read).

Bump:

Thanks Jarod! Yeah, I am definitely a fan of your tanks that have those nice Pearl Weed carpets you display! Just a bit taller than I'd like though for my shrimp tank. Definitely considering it though for how well and fast it's growing for you.

Hemianthus micranthemoides = HM

Java Moss grows quickly in my tank, but I have co2 and high light so not sure how it would fair other tanks
Hemianthus micranthemoides is right.

Just to give some perspective, HM probably grows at least 5x as fast as java moss. I probably wouldn't even use it on a co2 tank because it would grow so fast it would give me arthritis from trimming.

Is it possible to root trimmings?
