what externals can i use on a mini m



i was thinking eheim 2213 & good old ebay lily pipes


do you think this is overkill or any other sujestions?

I would think that if you can control the outflow, then it shouldn't be over-kill. Fill 'er up with ceramic rings and you should be okay. Like, you'll want the surface area that the 2213 can hold, but maybe not the full force of its outflow.
Just don't get the Tom Rapids mini canister, haha.

I have a 2213 on my mini m and it is working great. I have custom tubes but if you are thinking lillys then the flow would be even more so lessened on the output side then mine. If you want you can read about my follies and triumphs in my journal in my sig.

May I ask why you wouldn't suggest the Tom Rapids mini? I was thinking about buying one for my 12 gal.
