Hey guys I have been emerse growing some rotala indica and some HC cuba for the past 6 months while waiting for my tank to get all its parts. Now as you can probably imagine everything is filled in, thick, and deeply rooted. I just tried to take out one tray of HC and separate it for propagation but it seemed the roots were too interconnected with the soil so I had to kinda make HC mash and plant little mashed pieces. Is there a better way to do this and avoid mashing my plants? I still have 3 others trays of HC to separate and propogate.

I rinse my ground covers with the hose outside in a bucket. I just use my finger to increase the velocity and it removes most of the debris.
