I am switching to EI dosing with dry ferts, and was wondering if I still need root tabs for heavy root feeders like swords and crypts.
It can never hurt :)

I would encourage you to keep them going, especially if you are running a high tech tank. Many plants will take in fertilizer both ways (root and leaf) but some fertilizers enter the plants easier one way or the other, so having ferts supplied both ways makes sure the plants can get the nutrients they need with the least energy expended.
