I did a canister cleaning and my 2213 has been pumping in reverse. It is literally sucking water from the spray bar and pushing it up through the intake. If I take the spray bar out of the water, it will pull air all the way down (fast too) until it starts airlocking. I've been working on this off and on for 3 days now. (and no, my tubes ain't crossed)

Impeller is intact. Axle and grommets are there. No visible obstructions. Searching online did not reveal any threads with this issue. I have reached out to eheim and am hoping they have some suggestions.

Anybody ever experience this?

Has to be a mechanical issue because I don't know of any way an ac controlled pump can pump backwards. Have you heard from Eheim?

Did you try hooking it up not attached to the tank?

Put the intake into a bucket and the outlet in the same bucket plug it in, and see what you get. Use extra hose you have kicking around to make it easy.
I have not tried that and will give it a shot but I don't expect any surprises based on what has happened so far.

Eheim has NOT responded yet.

I wasn't sure what to expect from them but I was expecting some sort of response after 5 business days.

I suppose I need to start shopping for a new canister filter. I put a lot of research into buying that Eheim and thought I would have to replace the impeller or something but believed it would last me the life of the tank. Did not expect a mechanical failure like this.

Have you tried taken the pump head off and plugging it in to see which direction the impeller is spinning? You will need to remove the latch, hold the impeller shaft vertically with the tip of your finger and briefly plug the pump head in to check, the impeller should rotate clockwise.
