I'm thinking of adding the eheim surface extractor to my 2126 filter. I was told to do this with the 2126 I would need to add a T-adapter. Has anyone done this and if so what size T do I need? And could someone explain how do I connect the T with the intake and surface skimmer?

The surface extractor takes place of your intake so I don't see why you would need a T. What you might need though is a reducer if the hose size is different.

You do need to "T" it in.

The surface extractor was designed to be used with filters less powerful than the 2126. The pull on the filter is too strong for the surface extractor, there is a weighted part inside of the unit that will rattle like no tomorrow if the unit is not "T"ed inline.

The "T" you need is a reducing "T". The surface extractor is roughly 1/2" and the 2126 roughly 5/8".

Will I need anything else besides the T? Would I need a different size hose for the Skimmer? And what will happen if the water line evaporates while I'm out of town?

You'll need some 12/16mm (the tubing size off the extractor) in order to plug the extractor into the reducing "T".

Now I understand. But I've found the T but I've also read that the filters 22mm hose would fit on the extractor?
