which would do better with ferts, and root tabs, but no Co2. im looking for a carpeting plant for my 10 gallon with 2 10 watt daylight CFL's. i might upgrade the CFL's to 20 watts each. so what do you think?

Chain sword would more than likely be best for your setup, i can't even grow DHG in my high light CO2, ferts setup. But chain sword seems to be doing well enough!

Chain sword definitely. At least, it has a strong root system. Planting dwarf hair grass is pita. You are supposed to plant them 4 to 5 strands of grass per bunch.

You can "direct" the runners to anywhere you want in the tank. Do so before they begin to root too deep into the substrate.
