Dual stage help

I just set up my reg that I got from btimmer, put it all together as per the instructions he gave me and what I could find online. I set it up and in my excitement didn't do a thorough leak check. Next morning cylinder was empty, but it was good timing cause I really wanted to upgrade to a 20 lb cylinder anyway.

I got home and hooked up everything to do a leak check, and unlike the first time it audible started leaking out of a small hole on the back. Pressure was reading 950 psi and tank had been filled probably several days or even weeks before bringing it home. I adjusted the screw on the back with the allen wrench and it stopped leaking audibly. I closed the cylinder to try to find the leak while the regulator was still pressurized. Was the tank overfilled and that is why it is reading 950 psi? I did a soap test and found that the hole was the only place it was leaking. What do I set the first stage at to make sure my regulator is working properly? I am not sure if this makes sense but I am getting pretty frustrated...

I know the regulator is fine cause it still works, I just don't want to run it cause I think that it is still leaking ther but I guess unjust don't know how to get it to stop leaking.
Are you using a washer between the tank and the reg?
Yes, question though, which way Gould the little ridge on the washer be facing? I soaped it also and I don't see anything coming from there
Picture of the offending hole? The first stage might have an issue...
It shouldn't matter. When you say started leaking on the back , you mean back of the regulator? Also, which screw did you adjust?
I am at work... I can take one when I get home. Do you know what i am talking about with the adjustment on the back of the regulator? By adjusting that i screw, it release the pressure from the first stage, so I thought it was leaking or something...
It is an Allen wrench screw on the back on the end of the protruding part of the reg. I believe it is an adjustment screw for the first stage correct? Some dual stage regs are set and some are adjustable?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you've either got some debris in the first stages diaphragm or is ruptured. If everything is alright, you shouldn't be venting gas.

Oldpunk, if it's ruptured, tightening it wouldn't stop the leak, would it?

Adjusting the working pressure should involve turning a large, obvious knob on the front of the reg, not the back. Any screws or whatnot back there would be used for disassembling the unit.

It isn't for dissembling the unit I am sure, could it be a relief valve of some kind?

If it was ruptured, the regulator would work at all right? Cause it still works, just seems to be leaking from somewhere
Again, a picture would help, lol
I am just trying to come up with some ideas so I am not freaking out about it after I dropped all this money on a new system...trying to pacify my mind...

No. It might slow down the leak but also would send more pressure to the second stage.
Could he be talking about some kind of 1/4 inch plug? They have an allen hole, don't they?
What brand of regulator are you using?
John

It isn't 1/4, it might help to mention that the leak gets bigger when I turn it clockwise, and by turning it counterclockwise it seemed to stop it or perhaps just slow it down...
It is a Harris dual that I got from btimmer

One of the seals in the first stage is probably toast. Contact the seller.
