My DSM setup has been up and growing since September. It is growing very
slowly, because I started out with single stems of HC. Is the HC grown in enough to consider filling with water. Or should I wait still till it grows in some more. I am not in a hurry, and I don't want to lose the HC.

If you want a fuller carpet, I would just leave it alone and continue with DSM.
