It's probably much easier to make a gallon of 4dKH water with small pinches of baking soda, as long as you have source water below 4dKH and trial and 'error' doesn't use up all your KH reagent, then put some in the DC. I think a couple pinches or so will bring a gallon of 0 TDS RO/DI to about 4dKH.

I have the "Blacksunshine DC", the pics don't do it justice. Make sure to use a toothpick or something to remove it's suction cup from the glass, I ended up ripping the peg off where it's welded to the DC, lol. oooops :hihi: At least it's repairable unlike my glass diffuser that met the kitchen floor.

I'm sure your way is better for those that have no KH reagent, my method can use it up fast if you're not lucky and get close the first time without going over, going over isn't as bad since you can just add RO to it.

No, I haven't seen the 3D version ,just black and white on TV a loooong time ago, lol. I wish I could see it though, I haven't ever seen anything in 3D, isn't that sad?

I have something close to this going on. I am using the 4kh with my drop checker. The drop checker color is always really light yellow. Even in the morning when I wake up it is still yellow. I can't figure out what's going on.

Is it possible that I have THAT much co2 in my tank that it doesn't even all get out at night?
That could be an indication of a leak allowing tank water to pressure it's way in, especially when it turns sort of clear and stays that way constantly. Is it an acrylic checker with welded edges, a glass bell, or one of those mass marketed plastic doohikees?

Hmm, I don't think I'm familiar with that one, but it looks like it has seams on it. If it has seams then it can leak. I have no real way of pressure testing them or suggesting how to without blowing yours apart, best I could do with mine was refill it a few more times. Consistently, it worked normally for a few days then slowly started to go yellow then almost clear, with no corresponding change in bps or pH. So, I'm pretty sure mine is taking in tank water. It's a welded acrylic that's been jerked around quite a few times.

The only other way to know for sure is try the same liquid in a different DC. I'm going to try one of the cheap glass bells on ebay, next, if some superglue doesn't fix the one I have.

It's all in the standard (liquid). The rest is just a container with a hole. I can bet any knock off type glass product you get off ebay will smash into pieces if you look at it funny, but won't leak until then. :)

You just have to be extremely careful with the glass diffusers etc, when you're pushing the suction cups on or pulling them off. Pushing on any part of the glass usually snaps it quick. I try to make a habit of prying the cups off with a toothpick. Pushing them down without forcing the glass can always be tricky. A lot of people lose the glass plug that the cup connects to.
