Has anyone drilled an ADA tank before? If so, what size tank and was it the older style or newer one?

Thanks

i have seen ADA 30-Cs drilled for nano reefs
Yea, i know the one you speak of. Mostly looking for it done on large ones.

Thanks for the reply
Why not just get a rimless tank custom made? :S
As long as it's not tempered glass, you can drill it. Diamond bit of course, and plenty of cool water running over it. Glass is glass yo.

+1.

You can check whether the glass is tempered by looking through the glass at a laptop monitor through a pair of polarized lenses. Tempered glass will show wavy patterns.

Wouldn't this be like installing a sun visor, circa 1950, on a new Mercedes? ADA tanks are already perfect!
Must not be too perfect if the aquarium isnt drilled and the owner wants the aquarium drilled.
I have often thought this myself. A glass stand pipe makes more sense than the J-tube/overflow looking pipes. I would drill mine out if these were offered.
I'd prefer not to have any intake or out take tubes even visible, plus I get the added effect of surface skimming.

I've owned my share of glass lilies and they are more pain than they are worth.
as said before glass is glass if its not tempered you can drill it. google around for " glass-holes " they are who I buy my glass drill bits and bulkheads through.
Has anyone asked ADA why they don't sell drilled tanks? I agree that a drilled tank can look a lot better than undrilled, even if the undrilled uses those "perfect" lily pipes. Or, has anyone here tried drilling an ADA tank?

I havent but I bet if you check (the capital >You< AKA anyone reading this) ada tanks are all tempered. (I could be wrong about this< and most likley nano tanks arent since it would be a total waste of effort ) but it would explain away about half the ridiculous price of these tanks, and selling them drilled would only exacerbate the exhorbitant price
ada tanks are not tempered
i have seen pics of them drilled on sides and bottom
tempered tanks bad idea
they can shatter into a million pieces
ive seen tempered glass explode just by tapping it in the right place
ADA does sell some reef ready aquariums, but I think you have to request it. They come with a glass overflow box. I've seen a couple over on reef central.
