First time since setting the driftwood I've pulled it up due to collection of debris and such. Within a crack I noticed what looks like white mold, pulled it up a bit more and most of the wood set in/under substrate seems black. I keep neo shrimps and was wondering if I shoukd be worried about this?

Does the black part smell bad, anaerobic? This would be bad.

Agro mine did that, ended up spreading over the whole bit of wood, people said it would go on its own but it didn't, I ended up removing the wood, apparently BN plec's will eat it, but I didn't want one.

I moved it into another tank to help cycle it for now, really wouldn't want this to happen.
