K2SO4 is fine over a very wide range for livestock.
I would automate the water change with that bioloading.
Eg, 10% daily water change with SG tap water.
If you have a sump/wet/dry type filter, the water can be drained with a small power head to the drain and a float switch replaces the water.
This will work better I think over time.
