Does UV Light (UV Sterilizers) kill Rhizoclonium Algae (or stop it from spreading)?

I've corrected the original cause, poor CO2, high light and nutrients, but it still grows very quickly. I'm going to try Excel next but wonder if UV Sterilizers help at all against this type of algae.

Not that I know of. Once you've fix your light and co2 issue, trim the affect part and throw away. Although excel will kill it too.

I think I've fixed the problems (reduced the light, got good circulation and more nutrients), but this stuff still grows so fast. But only seems to grow in the same areas. It's mainly on Christmas Moss and the micranthemum umbrosum, which are difficult to cut or clean.

Am I better off just throwing out the affected plants and get fresh ones instead?
