That should rub right off and isn't' algae. It's newly submerged wood right?

It could be the fungus that is associated with newly submerged driftwood, but it might also be BBA.

If it rubs off easily, it might be the former, but I'd be tempted to say it's the latter.

That is new wood...the whole tank is barely a month old...I'll try the rub in the am...hope u r right!!!

It did in fact come off easily.. I hope I dodged a bullet there..

Yup its just fungus. Itll go away after a bit.
