I was trying to find out about what this red spot on my fish was but later learned about ich. I had noticed he had some white spots under his eye but nowhere else....? I just got him a week ago i have a 2.5g tank and have done 1 half water change today. Could anyone help m3 identify if this is indeed ich?
Also if anyone knows about this red spot thatd be a plus! Lol thanks

Pictures can mislead so keep that in mind but I see nothing that looks like ich. Ich will be much more like tiny white dots. Think really small dots of sugar? They are also much more easily seen on the fins and thin parts. One almost sure way to say it is ich is that they will change often. It may be on a fin now and another place tomorrow but normally do increase quickly. So watch carefully to be aware. The red spots on the fin? No, Not ich.
But then I may not be looking at the same spot as you?

Just as a thing to be ready , if you have not seen ich yet? I like to suggest reading up on the life cycle of ich and then doing some early planning, just as a way to be prepared for it , IF it should caome around. It is one of the really common things we see, so being prepped is one way to help both the fish as you begin treatment quicker and for the fishkeeper because it doesn't come up as quite such a crisis when we are a bit more ready.

Alrighty thank you! I will keep an eye on his fins he does have bumps on his tail fin but i cant catch him at a good time when he's not moving to see. Ill see if it moves though. And i know the red dot is not ich. I just don't remember him having it and i noticed it the other day i cant seem to find anything indicating if it is something or it might just be his color? Anyways great im hoping it's not!

I highly suggest checking out bettafish.com's forum and filling out their form. The users over there have seen it all in bettas, and they'd know exactly what they're looking at.

Good luck with your new fish!
Your fish is white with a piebald face. I think the white spots are normal white scales. The white scales stand out on his pink face. As mentioned before, Ich looks like grains of salt or sugar.

The red spot looks like normal red markings. He has another spot further away from the edge. Pictures can be difficult, so let me ask you a question: does the red spot look bloody? If so, it could be a symptom of fin rot. Do some 50 percent water changes over the next few days adding stress coat to the water. If that doesn't help, add aquarium salt to the water as directed. If it gets severe, use antibiotics. The reason I ask if it looks bloody is due to the spongebob tiki ornament. I had one and returned it to Amazon. It had sharp edges. Long finned Bettas can be damaged easily by sharp surfaces in their tanks.

Lots of Bettas change color after we put them in better conditions. He is white with a piebald face. Don't be surprised if his face turns all white or if the red markings spread. He may end up different looking a few weeks or months down the road.

He looks healthy and gorgeous to me. I think he is fine.

That makes me happy i did notice his scales under his eye when i got him from the store and i thought it was normal, but reading all these things on the internet changed my mind. Good thinking it does kind of look bloody and the other day i saw him get stuck in one of his plants and he panicked to get out and while he was doing that he split one of his fins. So maybe he hurt himself again? Should i take the plants out? I will definitely treat his water either way though. I hope its not the tiki house i just got that for him today i thought he might like it better as a safe place rather than the plants but he doesn't really from what i can see, he still goes to the spot where his plant used to be.

I would not expect plants to harm him enough to remove them. Plants and Betta almost come together in nature so he made feel much better with than without.
One point not mentioned is the fins when fish feel good. If the fins are up and out like he is, it is more likely he is okay. Clamped fins ( down and in?) are a sign that things are not going well. Sometimes one of the easier things to spot until we get used to how each fish may act.

If the plants are real plants they should be great. If you have any silk or plastic plants check them for sharp edges.

I would pull the tiki house out and check inside and out for rough/sharp edges. One forum member here suggests rubbing the object with panty hose to see if it snags. If you find a rough edge, sand it smooth that way you can keep the tiki house. You Betta may enjoy going inside of it (which is why it is important to check inside too).
